Thompson Law Office is pleased to announce that attorney Thalia Downing Carroll has been selected to participate in the Nebraska State Bar Association’s 2011-2012 Leadership Academy. Thalia Downing Carroll was selected to participate by demonstrating leadership and service to the legal community and to the City of Omaha. Ms. Downing Carroll received her undergraduate degree.

On July 13, 2011, I had the pleasure of helping out with the training of new volunteer Ombudsmen for Long Term Care at the Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging.  They were looking for information about legal options and issues for residents of long term care facilities who may be losing the ability to make decisions for.

  The Omaha Tribe of Nebraska, which occupies the Omaha Indian Reservation in northeast Nebraska, has been particularly hard hit by the flooding along the Missouri River.  The Reservation straddles the river and includes land on both the Nebraska and Iowa sides.  Floodwaters have completely surrounded the Omaha Tribe’s casino near Onawa, Iowa, and flooded.
